One of the four main basic abilities you need to learn French vocabulary is the ability to write. A great way to practice your written French is to find a French pen pal or speaking partner. You and your pen pal or partner can write about a specific topic and then compare your versions. You should rewrite your paragraph several times making the corrections with each edit. This seems tedious but you'll see an improvement with your written French. When you want to learn French vocabulary, writing French not only gives you a "formal" grasp of French (especially French grammar) but it also improves your proficiency in French.
